India bowled out for 109 in first innings on day one against Australia

New Delhi: India were bowled out for 109 in their first innings against Australia on the opening day of the third cricket Test here today. For India, only Virat Kohli (22) and Shubman Gill (21) could cross the 20-run mark.

For Australia, Matthew Kuhneman took five wickets, while Nathan Lyon took three wickets. India’s aggressive tactics on a pro-spinner pitch here proved costly as Australia reduced the hosts to 84 for seven at lunch today.
Like the first two Test matches, the pitch was expected to help the spinners a lot, but the holkar stadium pitch took a lot of turn in the first hour. Rohit Sharma (12), Ravindra Jadeja (4) and Shreyas Iyer (0) were dismissed while trying to take an aggressive stance. Virat Kohli (22 off 52 balls) was playing well but was dismissed by Todd Murphy in the final moments of the session. Matthew Kuhneman and veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon took three wickets each.
After winning the toss for the first time in the series, Indian captain Rohit decided to bat first as expected.
