India monitoring attacks on minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh: Jaishankar
New Delhi: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, speaking in the Lok Sabha today, highlighted incidents of attacks on minority communities in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
He said India is closely monitoring the situation but cannot change the “radical mindset” of neighboring countries.
During question hour, Jaishankar referred to 10 attacks on Hindus in Pakistan in February and also mentioned atrocities against Sikh, Christian, and Ahmadiyya communities. He said that India is raising such issues at the international level.
“There were 2,400 attacks on minorities in Bangladesh in 2024, while 72 incidents have been reported this year,” he said, adding that he had discussed the matter with his Bangladeshi counterpart and that it remains a concern for the government.
