India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement result of direct talks, says Jaishankar

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday clarified that the recent agreement between India and Pakistan to end military operations along the border was the outcome of direct talks between the two countries, not mediated by any third party.

His remarks came in response to US President Donald Trump’s earlier claim that Washington had played a role in building consensus between New Delhi and Islamabad.

In an interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS during his visit to the Netherlands, Jaishankar also issued a stern warning against terrorism, asserting that India will respond to any future attacks similar to the one in Pahalgam.

“If there is such an attack, a response will be given,” he said, adding that this is why ‘Operation Sindoor’ is still ongoing.

Jaishankar is currently in The Hague as part of his official tour to the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany.
