Indian Army responds amid guard of honor row, Agniveer Amritpal Singh died by suicide
New Delhi: Amid a political row over denial of guard of honour at the funeral of Agniveer Rangroot Amritpal Singh, who was killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri sector on October 11, the Indian Army has said he committed suicide by shooting himself in the line of duty.
The Indian Army told X that Agniveer Amritpal Singh committed suicide by shooting himself while on duty, and “such cases do not deserve a guard of honour during a military funeral as per the existing Army Order 1967.” The Army said that some misconceptions and misstatements have been made about the facts related to the unfortunate death of Agniveer Amritpal Singh.
