Justice B R Gavai appointed as next Chief Justice of India

New Delhi: Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai has been appointed as the 52nd Chief Justice of India. He will assume office on May 14, a day after incumbent Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna retires.

The Law Ministry issued a notification confirming the appointment of Justice Gavai, who will have a tenure of six months.
