KKR thrash Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs in IPL clash
New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match here today. Batting first, KKR posted a strong total of 200 for six in 20 overs, before bowling out Hyderabad for 120 in 16.4 overs.
Despite a shaky start with both openers — Quinton de Kock (1) and Sunil Narine (7) — departing early, Kolkata recovered through a solid 81-run stand between skipper Ajinkya Rahane and young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Rahane scored 38, while Raghuvanshi struck a half-century.
Venkatesh Iyer anchored the middle overs with a crucial 60-run knock. Rinku Singh then added a quickfire unbeaten 32 off 17 balls to push the team’s total to 200.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mohammed Shami, Pat Cummins, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel and Kamindu Mendis took one wicket apiece.
In reply, Hyderabad’s batting collapsed under pressure. Kolkata’s bowlers kept a tight grip on proceedings, dismissing the entire line-up well short of the target in under 17 overs.
