Kolkata case: Mamata Banerjee govt accepts three out of five demands of doctors
Kolkata: The state government and the doctors protesting against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata have reached a consensus during a meeting today.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accepted the three demands of the doctors, including the police commissioner, in which four officers, including the police commissioner, have been transferred. Speaking to reporters late last night, Banerjee said the Kolkata Police Commissioner has been removed.
Apart from this, the Director of Health, Director of Medical Education and Deputy Commissioner of North Kolkata have been removed. She said a committee headed by Chief Secretary Manoj Pant would be formed to look into the other demands of the agitating junior doctors.
After the meeting, 42 agitating doctors and the chief secretary signed the minutes of the meeting. Earlier, these doctors did not return to work even after the Supreme Court’s order, due to which the state government had invited these doctors for talks for the last time today.
