Lakhimpur Kheri violence: SC extends Ashish Mishra’s interim bail till July 11
New Delhi: The Supreme Court today extended till July 11 the interim bail of Ashish Mishra, an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and J K Maheshwari adjourned the matter and said the interim order in this regard will continue till July 11.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the victim’s family, urged the apex court to direct the trial court for day-to-day hearing of the case.
The court, however, said it could not be possible as the trial court was dealing with more such cases.
Bhushan, however, insisted that such cases go on for 20 years and by then many witnesses related to the case die. The bench said this is the reason why they have kept the matter pending. The apex court had on January 25 granted interim bail to Ashish Mishra under conditions.
