Large number of Air India staff on ‘sick leave’, 80 flights canceled and many delayed
New Delhi: Air India Express has cancelled over 80 of its flights and delayed several of its flights as a large number of crew members have taken ‘sick leave’ as a mark of protest against the alleged mismanagement of the Tata Group-owned airline.
The process of merging AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India) with Air India Express is underway.
The company has to manage 360 flights daily during the summer season. An Air India Express spokesperson said the company is in talks with the crew members to ascertain the reason for their illness.
The company has expressed regret for the cancellation or delay of flights.
