Lok Sabha passes 3 new criminal bills in absence of 97 opposition MPs, scraps sedition law
Three new criminal bills have been passed in the Lok Sabha. During the discussion on the criminal amendment bills and the reply of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a total of 97 opposition MPs were absent. They have been suspended. The new criminal bills will now be tabled in the Rajya Sabha.
After passing from there, it will be sent to the President for approval.
Replying to 3 new criminal bills in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “The sedition law of the British era has been abolished. Crimes like rape and mob lynching of a minor will be punished by death.”
As soon as the 3 new criminal bills were passed in the Lok Sabha, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 11 am on Thursday.
