Maha Kumbh 2025 sets record with over 500 million devotees at Prayagraj

New Delhi: The religious event ‘Maha Kumbh 2025’, which commenced on January 13 in Prayagraj, has made history with over 500 million devotees taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam.

This gathering is the largest participation in any religious, cultural, or social event in human history.

The massive turnout symbolizes religious and cultural unity, with the number of attendees surpassing the population of most countries.

Only India and China have populations exceeding the number of devotees present at the event.

For perspective, the world’s most populous countries are India (1.41 billion), China (1.40 billion), the US (342 million), Indonesia (283 million), Pakistan (257 million), Nigeria (221 million), Bangladesh (170 million), Russia (140 million), and Mexico (131 million).
