Manu Bhaker, Gukesh, Harmanpreet Singh, and Praveen Kumar receive Khel Ratna awards

New Delhi: Four Indian sportspersons, including Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker and teenage world chess champion D Gukesh, were conferred with the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for 2024.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and para-athlete Praveen Kumar were also honored with the award for their remarkable achievements in their respective sports.

Harmanpreet Singh’s accomplishments include:

Bronze medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics (Men’s Hockey Team).

Bronze medal in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics (Men’s Hockey Team).

Gold medal in the 2023 Asian Games (Men’s Hockey Team) held in Hangzhou, China.
