Morne Morkel appointed as India’s bowling coach
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel as the head bowling coach of the Indian cricket team. This appointment comes as part of the coaching staff under head coach Gautam Gambhir.
According to a media report, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed Morkel’s appointment, with his tenure officially starting on September 1. Morkel’s first assignment will be the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, beginning on September 19.
Earlier, there were discussions about Morkel joining the team for the tour of Sri Lanka. However, he was unavailable due to commitments in a league.
Morkel’s experience and expertise are expected to be a significant asset as India prepares for a challenging international schedule.
