MP Shailaja urges action as farmer leader Dallewal’s health worsens

New Delhi: Sirsa MP and former Union minister Bibi Selja has expressed deep concern over the critical health condition of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a fast unto death at the Khanauri border.

In a statement to the media, Selja urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government to address the farmers’ demands without delay.

Dallewal, whose health has reportedly deteriorated significantly, has penned an open letter to the Prime Minister outlining 13 demands, including the implementation of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) Guarantee Act.

Despite these demands, Selja accused the government of ignoring the farmers’ plight and resorting to measures like water cannons and tear gas to suppress their voices.

“The government should abandon its stubborn stance and engage in dialogue with the farmers to resolve their issues,” Selja said, reminding the authorities of their promise to implement MSP during the earlier farmers’ agitation.

She added, “If the government respects the Constitution, it should honor its commitments made to the farmers.”
