MPs urge government to regulate high airfares

New Delhi: Members of the Lok Sabha urged the government on Friday to intervene in reducing high airfares, calling for their regulation. Lawmakers from various parties expressed concerns over rising ticket prices.

BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said airlines pass on operating expenses to passengers. He noted that if a flight is diverted, the additional costs are also transferred to passengers. “Every minute spent in the air is a cost for the airline, and this cost is reflected in ticket prices for other passengers,” he said.
