Mumbai leave LSG, PBKS, RCB behind with crucial win; elimination looms for all three teams

Mumbai: Rohit Sharma’s blistering knock powered Mumbai Indians to a dominant seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 41st match of IPL 2025. With this win, Mumbai jumped to third place in the points table.

Batting first, Hyderabad were restricted to 143 runs, thanks to a disciplined bowling effort led by Trent Boult. The Mumbai pacer kept the pressure on the home side, helping to keep the total within reach.

In response, Mumbai chased down the 144-run target in just 15.4 overs. Rohit Sharma top-scored with a fiery 70 off 46 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes. His knock ensured a smooth run chase for the visitors.

With five wins and four losses from nine matches, Mumbai Indians now have 10 points and a net run rate of +0.673.

They have leapfrogged Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, all of whom also have 10 points but trail in net run rate. Before this match, Mumbai were placed sixth on the table.
