Navy Lieutenant from Haryana shot dead by terrorists in Pahalgam, family demands strict action

Chandigarh: Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, 26, was shot dead by terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, while on his honeymoon. A resident of Karnal, Haryana, Lieutenant Narwal had married Himanshi Narwal of Gurugram just seven days earlier. The couple had travelled to Pahalgam on April 21 to celebrate their honeymoon.
According to the family, the terrorists were reportedly dressed in army uniforms. Vinay’s uncle, Surjit Narwal, said, “We have heard from the police that the terrorists came in army uniforms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should stop minor actions and take strong measures. They seem to be attacking selectively, and they must be eliminated in the same way.”
After receiving news of his death, Vinay’s father, sister, and father-in-law left for Kashmir late at night. His postmortem was conducted on Wednesday morning, and the body was flown to Delhi. His last rites will be performed at his native village, Bhusli in Karnal, on Wednesday evening. The family currently resides in Sector 7, Karnal.
Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan visited the family to offer condolences, while Chief Minister Nayab Saini spoke with Vinay’s grandfather via video call.
