Note ban: From May 23, banks will be able to exchange Rs 2,000 notes up to a limit of Rs 20,000
New Delhi: The government has decided to withdraw the currency note of Rs 2000. RBI announced that under the clean note policy, the RBI has decided to withdraw Rs 2000 currency note from circulation. Rs 2,000 notes will continue to be legal tender even if the notes are discontinued in circulation.
RBI has said that till September 30, 2023, banks can exchange Rs 2000 notes. Also, Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged with other denomination currency in 19 regional offices of banks and RBI.
1.Those who have bank notes of Rs 2000 can deposit these notes in the bank account or exchange it through other notes by going to the bank branch.
2. There will be no restrictions on the exchange of 2000 rupees notes in banks. Banks will issue separate rules in this regard.
3. From May 23, 2023, rs 2000 notes can be exchanged up to a limit of Rs 20,000.
4. Those who have bank notes of Rs 2000 can exchange 2000 rupees notes till 30 September 2023. Rbi has separately issued guidelines to banks in this regard.
5. From May 23, 2023, 19 regional offices of RBI will be able to exchange up to a limit of Rs 20,000.
