Online fraud: Jharkhand thugs who duped Punjab of Rs 1.63 lakh have links with criminals in Pakistan: Police
Four persons, who were part of a cyber crime syndicate with links to Pakistan, have been arrested in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district, police said on Monday. They duped a man from Punjab of Rs 1.63 lakh and were nabbed by the police after examining the phone number used in the crime. Police have recovered 10 mobile phones, 36 SIM cards, 37 debit and credit cards, 12 passbooks and chequebooks, two-wheelers, four-wheelers and other items from them.
The accused are aged between 19 and 25 years. They were arrested in the area of Kora area, 105 km from Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi. The accused admitted that they were working under a Pakistani handler. Police said it was a serious matter. We are trying to find out if the money was for cybercrime or for any other purpose. On November 28, an online fraud of Rs 1.63 lakh was committed in Punjab and the phone number was found to be linked to some place in Jharkhand.
After receiving the information, the number was found to be in the area of Kora. Two of the accused were first arrested and later two more were arrested.
