Over 1,090 cases of MCC violations registered in Delhi, 35,000 detained
New Delhi: Delhi authorities have registered 1,098 cases of alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) between January 7 and February 5, officials said. A total of 35,020 people have been arrested or detained under preventive measures and other legal provisions.
According to a police statement, 472 illegal weapons and 534 cartridges have been seized, with 496 individuals arrested under the Arms Act. Additionally, authorities have confiscated 1,14,699 litres of liquor and arrested 1,423 people in related cases.
Law enforcement agencies have also seized over 1,200 banned vaccines and 206.712 kg of narcotics worth Rs 77.9 crore, leading to the arrest of 179 individuals.
Cash amounting to Rs 11.70 crore and 37.39 kg of silver have also been confiscated during the enforcement of the MCC.
