‘Absolute defiance’: Baba Ramdev apologises to SC in misleading advertisement case
New Delhi: Yoga guru Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna on Tuesday appeared before the Supreme Court in connection with a show-cause notice asking why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them.
The court had on March 19 asked Ramdev and Balkrishna to appear in person in the contempt proceedings related to advertisements of Patanjali Ayurved products and the efficacy of their medicines.
The bench had taken strong note of the company and Balkrishna not filing a reply to the court notice issued earlier.
The matter came up for hearing before a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah today. “Are they both present?” the bench asked. The bench said the advertisements issued by Patanjali are within the “ambit of law” of the country.
