PM Modi visits Adampur air base amid heightened tensions with Pakistan

Adampur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur air base in Punjab on Tuesday morning in a visit that was kept under wraps. The strategically important base houses the Russian-developed S-400 missile defence system.

During his visit, Modi received a briefing from the Indian Air Force and interacted with air base personnel and soldiers.

Images show the Prime Minister posing with troops, a day after his televised address to the nation in which he declared that Pakistan’s nuclear blackmailing tactics would no longer be effective and that India would respond to any future terror attack on its own terms and timing.

Government sources said Modi’s visit to Adampur was aimed at sending a strong message to Pakistan.

The Indian Air Force had recently deployed the S-400 missile defence system during ‘Operation Sindoor’ to target terror launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the intervening night of May 7–8. A second round of deployment took place on May 8–9 to thwart attempts by Pakistan to target Indian military installations.
