PM Modi warns Maharashtra could become ATM for Congress’s ‘royal family’ if party wins
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an election rally on Saturday, claimed that any state led by the Congress becomes an “ATM” for the party’s “royal family.”
Speaking in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, scheduled for November 20, he assured voters that the BJP would prevent Maharashtra from following this alleged pattern.
Modi criticized the Congress, alleging significant corruption in its efforts to secure election wins, suggesting such practices would escalate if the party assumed power.
“Wherever the Congress government is formed, it becomes the ATM of the royal family of the state party,” he stated, alleging that Rs 700 crore had been raised through Karnataka’s liquor industry, under Congress rule, to finance the Maharashtra campaign.
He further accused Congress-ruled Telangana and Himachal Pradesh of also operating as ATMs for the party.
Highlighting the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition’s manifesto, Modi emphasized commitments to women’s safety, job creation, and the expansion of the ‘Girl Sister’ scheme.
In contrast, he dismissed the manifesto of the opposition coalition, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP, as a “scam letter.”
