President, PM pay tributes to martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh
New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to those who laid down their lives for the country at the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, saying the patriotic spirit of those martyrs will continue to inspire generations to come.
On this day in 1919, the British army opened unprovoked firing on hundreds of people peacefully protesting against the Rowlatt Act, which gave powers to the colonial rule to oppress the colonial rule at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.
