Protests continue in Mumbai, Pune; internet suspended in Badlapur
Thane: Internet services were suspended and most schools remained closed in Maharashtra’s Thane district today in the wake of widespread protests against the alleged sexual abuse of two girls in Badlapur in Thane district.
At least 17 police personnel and around eight railway police personnel were injured in stone-pelting incidents at the railway station and other parts of Badlapur during the protests on Tuesday and investigators have arrested 72 people in connection with the violence.
Meanwhile, the court extended the police remand of the accused till August 26.
