Rahul Gandhi targets Jaishankar over ‘silence’ on Indian aircraft damage in Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a fresh attack on External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, criticising his “silence” over the number of Indian aircraft allegedly damaged during a military operation, which Gandhi claims was disclosed to Pakistan in advance.

In a post on X, Gandhi called the minister’s silence “condemnable” and reiterated his charge that India had informed Pakistan ahead of strikes carried out under Operation Sindoor. “The silence of the external affairs minister is not only telling, but it is condemnable,” he said.

“So I ask once again: How many of our Indian aircraft were damaged because Pakistan already knew (about these attacks)? It was a crime. And the country deserves the truth.”

The Congress leader also shared an undated video clip of Jaishankar, alleging it was proof that the government had prior communication with Pakistan before the operation.

“It was a crime to inform Pakistan about it before the start of our attack. The External Affairs Minister has publicly admitted that the Government of India did it,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi, who serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, further questioned, “Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our Air Force lose as a result?”

In response, the Ministry of External Affairs has dismissed Gandhi’s claims, calling them a “complete misrepresentation” of facts.
