RCB beats KKR by seven wickets in IPL 2025 opener

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Chasing a target of 175, RCB reached 175/3 in just 16.2 overs, powered by half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Kohli remained unbeaten on 59, while Salt scored 56. Captain Rajat Patidar added 34 runs. For KKR, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy, and Sunil Narine took one wicket each.

Earlier, KKR posted 174/8, with skipper Ajinkya Rahane top-scoring with 56. Sunil Narine contributed 44, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 30.

For RCB, Krunal Pandya took three wickets, Josh Hazlewood claimed two, while Yash Dayal, Rasikh Salam, and Suyyash Sharma picked up one each.
