RCB edge past Mumbai Indians in high-scoring thriller
Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a high-scoring Indian Premier League clash here today. Chasing a challenging target of 222, the hosts fell short, finishing at 209 for nine in their 20 overs.
Tilak Verma top-scored for Mumbai with a brisk 56 off 29 balls, while captain Hardik Pandya smashed 42 runs off just 15 deliveries, hitting three fours and four sixes. Suryakumar Yadav added 28, Will Jacks scored 22, and both Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma chipped in with 17 runs each.
Krunal Pandya led Bangalore’s bowling attack with four wickets. Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal claimed two wickets apiece, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took one.
Earlier, after being put in to bat, RCB posted 221 for five. Virat Kohli struck a fluent 67, while captain Rajat Patidar hammered 64. Their partnership laid the foundation for a commanding total in the allotted 20 overs.
