New Delhi: Rekha Gupta, a first-time BJP MLA, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi on Thursday, marking the party’s return to power in the national capital after 26 years.
Lt Governor VK Saxena administered the oath of office to Gupta and six other ministers—Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, Ravinder Inderraj Singh, and Pankaj Singh—at a ceremony held at Ramlila Maidan.
The event was attended by top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with NDA chief ministers.
Gupta, a 50-year-old MLA from Shalimar Bagh, is the fourth woman to hold the chief minister’s post in Delhi. She is also the only woman among the NDA’s current chief ministers.
