Rs.3528.85 Cr Budget allocation for 56 Embassies and Consulates for FY 2023-24, replies Minister to MP Arora’s question
Ludhiana: The Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan while replying to a question asked by AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has stated that the total budget allocation for 56 Embassies and Consulates for the FY 2023-24 is Rs.3528.85 crores.
The Minister was recently replying a question asked by Arora in the ongoing session of Rajya Sabha. Arora had asked how many consulates India have worldwide, and the budget spent on Consulates.
Further, the Minister stated that India maintains 56 Consulates in various countries.
Arora said the Minister further replied that the staff strength of a Consulate is decided based on functional requirements such as potential for deepening cooperation, bilateral trade and investment, diaspora presence, the need to bolster political outreach, and to signal India’s commitment to stepping up of diplomatic engagement with important regions.
