Rural Development Fund: Supreme Court to hear Punjab’s plea on September 2
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday said it will hear on September 2 an interim plea filed by the AAP government in Punjab seeking immediate release of Rs 1,000 crore dues of rural development fund from the Centre.
A bench of Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra was told by advocate Shadan Farasat, appearing for the Punjab government, that the apex court’s website does not appear to have listed the matter for hearing on September 2.
The Bhagwant Singh Mann government in Punjab had approached the Supreme Court in 2023, accusing the Centre of allegedly not releasing the dues of the state’s rural development fund and also withholding a part of the market fee.
