Sant Seechewal meets AAP leaders, urges them to include environment agenda in manifesto
New Delhi: Environmentalist and Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal met national leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party to include the environment agenda released for the Lok Sabha elections in the party’s manifesto.
During the meeting with AAP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Sandeep Pathak and Sanjay Singh, Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal said that the biggest impact of climate change is on the agriculture sector.
He submitted the environment agenda to the two leaders, saying 310 districts of the country are vulnerable to climate change. These include 9 districts of Punjab, 8 districts of Himachal Pradesh and 11 districts of Haryana. He said that due to global warming, its most fatal impact is on agriculture.
AAP national general secretary Sandeep Pathak assured Sant Seechewal that he would include this sensitive issue of environment in the party’s policy programme.
Referring to Sant Seechewal raising this issue in the Rajya Sabha, he said that the effort he has made to make the people of the country aware about the impact of climate change through Parliament is very commendable.
