SC Collegium recommends transfer of 21 high court judges to native states

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer or repatriation of 21 high court judges across India to their respective native states. The recommendations were made during a meeting held on May 26, chaired by Chief Justice B R Gavai.

According to a statement, the collegium has proposed that Telangana High Court judge Justice Sujoy Pal be transferred to the Calcutta High Court.

Justice V Kameswara Rao, who is currently serving at the Karnataka High Court, has been recommended for transfer back to the Delhi High Court.

Two judges from the Gauhati High Court—Justice Lanusungkum Jamir and Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak—are proposed to be shifted to the Calcutta and Orissa High Courts respectively.

Justice Nitin Vasudeo Sambre of the Bombay High Court has been recommended for transfer to the Delhi High Court.

The collegium has also advised that Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma of the Punjab and Haryana High Court be repatriated to the Rajasthan High Court.

Justice Vivek Chaudhary of the Allahabad High Court is proposed to be transferred to the Delhi High Court.

The collegium said the transfers are in line with its policy to promote national integration and to ensure proper representation in high courts.
