Sensex jumps over 1,300 points, Nifty ends above 22,900 after US suspends additional taxes on India

New Delhi: The equity benchmark Sensex surged more than 1,300 points on Friday, while the Nifty closed above the 22,900-mark, after the United States announced a 90-day suspension of additional tariffs on Indian goods until July 9 this year.

The 30-share BSE Sensex ended 1,310.11 points, or 1.77 per cent, higher at 75,157.26, helping the domestic markets avert a bearish trend. During intraday trade, the index had rallied as much as 1,620.18 points, or 2.19 per cent, to touch 75,467.33.

The broader NSE Nifty also witnessed strong gains, rising 429.40 points, or 1.92 per cent, to settle at 22,828.55.

Tata Steel, Power Grid, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reliance Industries and Adani Ports were among the top gainers driving the market rally.
