Set back to Akali Dal ahead of polls, Chandigarh candidate Hardeep Singh resigns
Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat, Hardeep Singh, has announced his resignation from the party.
On Monday, he returned his ticket to party president Sukhbir Badal. He alleges that before contesting the elections, he had demanded that Shiromani Akali Dal should contest elections in Chandigarh for the first time. So, senior leaders would be needed to contest in Chandigarh. However, party president Sukhbir Singh Badal is still campaigning in 13 seats, seemingly forgetting the 14th seat.
Hardeep Singh is the president of Chandigarh Akali Dal and the party’s lone councillor in the municipal corporation. He has announced that along with him, the heads of all the units of Chandigarh Akali Dal have also resigned.
He announced that he will not join any other party, leaving solely due to his dissatisfaction with the party’s policies.
