Seven militants killed as BSF foils major infiltration bid in Jammu’s Samba sector

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a major infiltration attempt along the International Border in the Samba sector of Jammu region, killing at least seven militants, officials said on Friday.

According to a BSF spokesperson, a large group of militants attempted to infiltrate on the intervening night of May 8 and 9, but the movement was detected by the surveillance grid. To aid the infiltration, Pakistani Rangers opened fire from the Dhandhar post.

“BSF troops foiled the infiltration bid, killed at least seven militants and caused heavy damage to the Pakistani post of Dhandhar,” the spokesperson said.

The Samba sector, located south of Jammu and close to the Pakistan border, has witnessed multiple incidents of infiltration and ceasefire violations in recent days, including drone activity from across the border.

The strategic Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar national highway passes through this region.
