Sirsa warns Tytler, Kamal Nath could be next after Sajjan Kumar’s life sentence in 1984 anti-Sikh riots

New Delhi: Delhi Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday warned that Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler and Kamal Nath could be the next to face legal action after a court sentenced former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar to life imprisonment in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Speaking to the media, Sirsa said he would consider filing an appeal in the high court seeking the death penalty for Kumar. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that reopened the case after 35 years.

“These cases were closed for decades while people like Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler, and Kamal Nath continued as chief ministers and MPs. We had expected the death penalty, and we will decide on appealing for it. Next up is Jagdish Tytler and Kamal Nath,” Sirsa said.

Jagdish Tytler is currently facing trial for the killing of three Sikhs near Gurdwara Pul Bangash on November 1, 1984.
