Sonia Gandhi’s remark on President Murmu sparks row

New Delhi: The Budget Session of the 18th Lok Sabha commenced today, with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint session of Parliament for 59 minutes. However, the session was marred by controversy over remarks made by Congress leaders.

Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi referred to President Murmu as “bechari”, while Rahul Gandhi called her speech “boring.” The BJP condemned the comments, calling them an insult to tribal communities and demanding an apology.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also criticized the remarks, stating they were disrespectful to the President, the poor, and the tribal population.

Meanwhile, the press secretary of Rashtrapati Bhavan objected to Sonia Gandhi’s statement, calling it “unfortunate” and a violation of the President’s dignity.
