Supreme Court directs Centre to submit status report on 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to submit a status report on cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots within two weeks.

The order was issued by a bench comprising Justices Abhay S. Oka and Augustine George Masih.

The court asked Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhatti to file an affidavit detailing the progress and allowed the petitioners to submit their objections.

During the hearing, Bhatti informed the bench that the recommendations made by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Supreme Court have already been implemented.

The next hearing will consider the Centre’s report and the objections raised by the petitioners.
