Supreme Court gets 5 new judges, Collegium’s recommendations approved by Centre

New Delhi: Amid a long-running tussle between the executive and the judiciary over the collegium, the central government has approved the names of five judges for the Supreme Court. Facing tough questions from the apex court, the central government had said in the Supreme Court a day earlier that the pending recommendations regarding the appointment of five judges would be announced by Sunday.

The President has approved the recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium.
Along with this, the Supreme Court has got five new judges. It is believed that on Monday, he can take oath as the judges of the Supreme Court. After this, the number of judges in the Supreme Court will increase to 32. The remaining two recommendations are likely to be appointed next week. 
Justice Pankaj Mittal, Justice Sanjay Karol, Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Manoj Mishra have been issued warrants for appointment as judges of the Supreme Court.
