Supreme Court hearing pleas seeking legalisation of same-sex marriage
New Delhi: The Supreme Court began hearing a batch of petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriage. A five-judge Constitution bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices S K Kaul, S R Bhatt, Hima Kohli and P S Narasimha began hearing the matter. Terming it as a very basic issue, the supreme court had on March 13 referred the petitions to a five-judge Constitution bench for hearing.
