Supreme Court refuses to bring tribunals under e-court project
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to entertain a plea seeking to bring tribunals under the e-courts project. The main objective of the project is to upgrade the digital infrastructure of courts across the country.
The PIL said quasi-judicial tribunals like the Armed Forces Tribunal and the National Green Tribunal should be made part of the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG).
The NJDG comes under the e-Court project, which aims to formulate a national policy for computerisation of the country’s judiciary.
It is funded and monitored by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law. The court, however, allowed the PIL to approach the central government for computerisation of tribunals.
