Supreme Court to soon set up committee to resolve grievances of farmers in an amicable manner
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday said it will soon set up a multi-member committee to resolve the grievances of farmers once and for all. The apex court, which posted the matter for further hearing on September 2, asked the governments of Punjab and Haryana to refer the temporary issues related to farmers to the committee.
The Punjab government informed the apex court that it had held a meeting with the protesting farmers in compliance with the court’s August 12 order in which they had agreed to partially open the closed highway.
The bench asked the Punjab and Haryana governments to stay connected with the protesting farmers and convince them to remove their tractors and trolleys from the highway.
