Telangana High Court grants bail to Allu Arjun in stampede case
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has granted interim bail to Telugu actor Allu Arjun, who was arrested in connection with a stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule.
The incident, which occurred at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4, led to the death of a woman and injuries to several others.
Allu Arjun was initially placed in judicial custody for 14 days by a lower court. Challenging the decision, the actor approached the Telangana High Court, which granted him interim bail.
In its ruling, the court remarked, “Just because he is an actor, this cannot be done to him.”
The stampede reportedly happened when a large crowd gathered to see the actor at the premiere. Chaos ensued as fans jostled for autographs, resulting in several people falling and a woman losing her life due to the commotion.
Following the incident, a case was filed against the management of Sandhya Theatre, Allu Arjun, and his security team for negligence leading to the stampede. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
