Terror attack threat in Delhi, Punjab on Independence Day; high alert issued

New Delhi: An alert has been issued in view of the possibility of suicide attacks in Delhi and Punjab on the occasion of Independence Day. According to media reports, this information has been given by intelligence agencies.

They said that two to three people of the terrorist group active in Jammu and Kashmir are planning to carry out the attack. The intelligence agencies also said that apart from August 15, there may be an attack before or after this.

Officials of intelligence agencies said that a misleading Improvised Explosive Device (IED) could be used at crowded places around August 15.

They said the possibility of retaliation by elements dissatisfied with certain decisions or actions of the government also increases the risk of attacks. Anti-social organization can carry out any activity involving high profile individuals, organizations, crowded places and places with high traffic.
