Third round of talks between Centre and farmers end, to meet again on Sunday
Chandigarh: Three Union ministers—Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Arjun Munda, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai—held the third round of talks with leaders of protesting farmer unions in Chandigarh on Thursday.
The meeting concluded around 1:30 am. The farmers have been protesting over various demands of farmer organizations, including a law guaranteeing minimum support price (MSP).
After the meeting, Union Minister Arjun Munda informed the media that the talks were conducted in a very positive atmosphere, and progress was made. The next meeting has been scheduled for 6 pm on Sunday, where the issues raised by the farmer organizations will be discussed in detail, and solutions will be sought.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann told the media that this was the third meeting of the central government with the farmers in a week, with extensive discussions taking place. As the head of Punjab, he attended to represent his constituents and emphasized that detailed discussions were held on every subject, leading to a very constructive dialogue.
