Tikait convenes mahapanchayat on Thursday in favour of protesting wrestlers
Muzaffarnagar (UP): Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Naresh Tikait said a ‘mahapanchayat’ will be held at Soram village in Muzaffarnagar on Thursday to discuss the ongoing protest by wrestlers against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment.
Tikait, who heads the Balyan khap, said on Tuesday night that the matter will be discussed in detail in the mahapanchayat.
India’s renowned wrestler sailed to Haridwar yesterday along with hundreds of supporters to shed his world and Olympic medals in the Ganga but deferred the decision after being convinced by the khap and farmer leaders. Tikait said several representatives of various khaps from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Delhi and their heads will participate in the mahapanchayat to decide the next course of action against the wrestlers.
