Two militants killed, five security personnel injured in Kathua encounter

Jammu: Two militants were killed and five security personnel injured in an exchange of fire in a remote forest area of Kathua district, officials said on Wednesday.

It remains unclear whether the militants were part of the same group that was attempting to escape the siege in Sanyal forest or belonged to another outfit.

Officials reported gunfire and explosions during the encounter.

The Jammu and Kashmir region has seen a rise in militant activities in recent months, prompting intensified military operations.
