US Vice President JD Vance visits Delhi’s Akshardham temple with family on first official India trip

New Delhi: US Vice President JD Vance, who is on his first official visit to India, visited the Akshardham temple in Delhi on Monday along with his wife Usha and their children Ivan, Vivek, and Mirabel. The family spent about an hour at the temple.

Vance arrived in Delhi at 9:45 am, landing at Palam Airport, where he was received by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. A guard of honour was presented at the airport, and traditional dance performances were held to welcome the Vice President and his family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to host a dinner in Vance’s honour later in the evening. During his four-day visit, Vance is also expected to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

Following the temple visit, Vance and his family toured the Central Cottage Industries Emporium at Janpath, which showcases and sells Indian handicrafts.
