Uttarakhand: Case registered against 5, including ex-IAS officer, in Baba Tarsem Singh murder case

Rudrapur: A case has been registered against five persons, including a retired IAS officer, in connection with the murder of Dera Kar Sewa chief Baba Tarsem Singh of Nanakmata Sahib Gurdwara in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, police said on Sunday.

Baba Tarsem Singh was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne men inside the gurdwara’s premises on Thursday.

Those named in the FIR include two attackers Sarabjit Singh and Amarjit Singh, former IAS officer Harbans Singh Chugh, who heads the Nanakmata Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Baba Anoop Singh and Pritam Singh Sandhur.

SSP Manjunath TC said the FIR was registered on Friday. Sarabjit Singh is a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab while Amarjit Singh is a resident of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.

They have been booked under sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Three others, including a retired IAS officer, have been named in the FIR as the complainant had raised doubts about their role.
